The Ceduna Dental Service will close on May 23.
The service has operated for the past two years under an arrangement between Dr Cindy Dennis and the Ceduna District Health Service (CDHS).
Dr Dennis travelled to Ceduna initially each fortnight and then weekly to provide services and earlier this year employed a locum dentist to provide full-time services.
However, a spokesman for Country Health SA said yesterday that Dr Dennis will no longer be able to provide visiting or locum dental services at Ceduna.
The CDHS is continuing to work with Dr Dennis, Country Health SA and the South Australian Dental Service to provide an ongoing dental service to Ceduna.
It is hoped that dental services can be reinstated as soon as possible, the spokesman said.
In the case of a dental emergency people can present to the emergency department of the Ceduna Hospital, he said.
In his Mayor’s Message earlier this year Ceduna Mayor Allan Suter warned residents they risked losing the dental service if they did not make use of it.
