Eyre girls at academy

The Eyre Academy Netball camp was held in Port Lincoln on Sunday 13th and Monday 14th April.

On the Sunday Tania Obst, State League coach for ETSA Contax and last years Thunderbird coach, along with Leanne Eichler, Contax A reserves coach - and also captain of Contax state league for nearly 13 years - flew in to provide the players and coaches with some specialised coaching.

The players were exposed to attacking and defending, and basic and tactical coaching, while coaches had the opportunity to observe top level coaches in action, and then had the chance to ask questions.

Fiona Evans from Rudall, -who has also played for Contax, and has represented the state - is now a personal trainer, and provided the players with professional advice about developing core stability and the importance of players having a core strength (ie strong stomach muscles).

All players and coaches found the sessions to be extremely worthwhile and enjoyable.

Monday saw the players working with Darren Linton, Netball SA umpire co-ordinator, on rules interpretation.

Also on Monday the players worked with their squad coaches on developing their agility, and some court play completed a very busy two days of netball.

The academy would like to thank and acknowledge all their generous sponsors who have made it possible to extend the program, and to have the players receive polo shirts to wear to each session: Mike Raleigh Motors, Wardle Co., Megafert, Goodyear Autocare, Tumby Bay Hotel, Ramsey Bros., Cleve Foodland, Raine and Horne, and Dennis Transport.
