Boys join Eyre golf team

24/07/2008 4:00:00 AM
Callan Miller and Tristan Carcuro from Streaky Bay joined the Eyre Peninsula Junior Pennant Golf Team to compete in the Brett Ogle Cup at Port Augusta last week against teams in division one (Lower North, Northern, Yorke Peninsula).

The team also consisted of Jack Thompson, Jim Eglington and Jayden Lloyd from Port Lincoln and with Tom Kenny as the manager.

Although they didn't win a match, they gained valuable experience for the years to come.

Lower North won the division and played against Southern, the winner of division two, which consisted of Murraylands, Southeast, and Riverland.

Southern was the eventual victor.

Next year it is hoped that there is only one division with each team playing each other once and the winner is the one with the most wins.

The boys will now compete in the 54-hole South Australian Country Junior Championship at Clare on September 19 and 20.
