Pedler Cup results for Mid West and Far West

The Pedler Cup, a netball competition for Under 15 netballers, was played in cold condition in Lock last Saturday. Netballers from six associations: Eastern Eyre, Far West, Great Flinders, Mid West, Port Lincoln and Whyalla contested for this prestigious cup.

Results: Division 1

Game 1: Great Flinders 22 defeated Mid West 9. Pt Lincoln 21 defeated Whyalla 12. Eastern Eyre 28 defeated Far West 14.

Game 2: Great Flinders 15 lost to Eastern Eyre 18. Mid West 21 lost to Pt Lincoln 26. Whyalla 8 lost to Far West 22.

Game 3: Great Flinders 21 defeated Whyalla 16. Mid West 12 lost to Eastern Eyre 25. Pt Lincoln 13 lost to Far West 17.

Game 4: Great Flinders 18 defeated Pt Lincoln 12. Mid West 15 lost to Far West 22. Whyalla 12 lost to Eastern Eyre 40.

Game 5: Great Flinders 16 defeated Far West 13. Mid West 24 defeated Whyalla 18. Pt Lincoln 16 lost to Eastern Eyre 27.

Division 2

Game 1: Great Flinders 19 defeated Mid West 8. Pt Lincoln 28 defeated Whyalla 10. Eastern Eyre 29 defeated Far West 10.

Game 2: Great Flinders 15 defeated Eastern Eyre 9. Mid West lost to Pt Lincoln 22. Whyalla 23 defeated Far West 12.

Game 3: Great Flinders 29 defeated Whyalla 12. Mid West 11 lost to Eastern Eyre 20. Pt Lincoln 26 defeated Far West 10.

Game 4: Great Flinders defeated Pt Lincoln 12. Mid West defeated Far West 9. Whyalla 13 lost to Eastern Eyre 32.

Game 5: Great Flinders defeated Far West 7. Mid West 26 defeated Whyalla 15. Pt Lincoln 18 lost to Eastern Eyre 21.

Grand Final Results: Division 1:

Eastern Eyre 29 defeated Great Flinders 9.

The division 1 grand final saw the team from Eastern Eyre take home the Pedler Cup after beating Great Flinders by 12 goals in a spectacular display of skills and talent.

Eastern Eyre took the court as favourites to win. Winning all of their minor rounds with some great play from a well polished team of players. Great Flinders winning four of their minor round games losing only one to Eastern Eyre by three goals in Game 2.

From the first blow of the whistle Eastern Eyre came out firing, scoring the first 13 goals of the match. Letitia Crettenden playing hard against Great Flinders Goal Defence Amelia Dahlitz who was defending and working hard. Letitia Crettenden and Jess Mills working well in the goal circle together.

Bad passes from Great Flinders was making it hard for the players to get the ball to their goal post. Eastern Eyre capitalised on every bad pass and wrong move by Great Flinders.

Half time scores were Eastern Eyre 17 to Great Flinders 2.

Great Flinders made a change in the second half hoping to provide some drive through the centre, bringing on Sarah Hurrell. Eastern Eyre Brittny Wildman was playing well at Wing Defence making play difficult for Great Flinders to get the ball into their goal circle. Ellie-Mae Siegert and Talina Brown working tirelessly trying to get the ball to the post, with Georgia Cant and Kelsey Wise defending well.

Division 2: Great Flinders 23 defeated Eastern Eyre 11.

The grand final match between Great Flinders and Eastern Eyre was a match everyone expected to be a good one to watch with Great Flinders winning all of its 5 minor matches and Eastern Eyre winning 4 of its minor matches only losing to Great Flinders by 6 goals.

Great Flinders started the match off taking the ball straight to the post scoring the first goal within seconds, and then another 4 followed before Eastern Eyre could score.

Great Flinders capitalising on the mistakes made through the mid court by Eastern Eyre. It didn't take long for Eastern Eyre to find their rhythm and start playing some great netball.

Great Flinders' Goal Shooter Tatum Lawrie was shooting well.

Eastern Eyre came out fighting in the last half with Serena King working tirelessly in defence. Great Flinders' Goal Attack Harriett Nelligan found her feet and confidence in the ring and started moving and shooting well. Matilda Treloar worked hard in the centre providing space and drive for Great Flinders. Eastern Eyre tried hard in defence but found Great Flinders attacking skills too good.
